  • Release of Floating IPs (15)

Note: This set of instruction uses the range 128.31.26.0 to 128.31.27.254 as an example.

To disassociate the IP address(es) in the above range and associate new ones so that your services will continue to be available on the Mass Open Cloud as usual.

If you don’t need the service from the project anymore, we request you to delete the project so that others can use the resources.

Please follow the below steps to renew your IP address.

Step 1: Check the Router gateway IP

    1. Check each router's gateway IP to see if it looks like 128.31.26.XX

    b. Click on the router whose external network is “public”
    c. You should be able to see the public IP address here.

    2. If it matches, DISASSOCIATE all the floating IPs from your VMs. If not, SKIP the rest of this section and go to "Step 2: Check floating IPs"
    a. Login on the Horizon Dashboard interface.
    b. Select your Project from the top right corner.
    c. Click on “Disassociate” to disassociate the IP.

    3. Clear the router gateway, and then set the gateway again (which will give a new IP).

    b. Click on the router whose external network is “public”
    c. Then click Clear Gateway button on top right (it’s in red). Confirm to clear.
    d. Then claim a new IP for your router in the new range by selecting Set Gateway.

    b. Select your Project from the top right corner.
    c. Click on “Disassociate” to disassociate the IP.
    d. Go to Network>Floating IPs.
    e. Select the IP addresses you want to release and click the button Release Floating IPs in the top right corner.

    2. Reallocate and associate new IPs.
    a. Select Allocate IP to Project (this will allocate a IP from the allowed range) - only if you need to.
    b. Select the Allocate IP on the modal dialog and a new IP address will appear in the list
    c. Click Associate next to the new IP to associate it with a port (may be a VM).

Step 3: If any changes are required in your DNS record, please update with the new IP address.

The flowchart below will guide you through the steps as well.
